Adding Sand to my Oscar Fish Tank?

sand is great but you have to worry about introducing harmful microbes. There is saltwater sand that is sold at the pet shop that can work and crushed coral. I personally would reccomend shot rock, you can pick it up from a place that sells landscaping materials. The shot rock is like river rock but its in between sand and river rock. Small enough to have the effect you want from the sand and large enough so that healthy bacteria can grow in your tank. And Oscars are great. I used to feed mine mice once a week
