How to use stopwatch on og watch?

It a wrist watch with a little circle behind it but the hand to it dosn't move. It has 15 30 45 on it im guessing its a stopwatch. There is only one nob and ive tried pulling it and puching it and spinning it. Is there some unniversal way to use it
