What ethnicity am I categorized as?

Im from Uzbekista, but grew up in America. When people ask me where im from I say Uzbekistan and they'll mistake me for afghan or pakistani or they'll just be like what?? I dont know what to answer because Uzbekistan is not located in the middle east or western asia. Technically its in central asia, does that mean im asian?
