What should my boyfriend expect? It his first offense DUI in Virginia?

Just to note, I am effing furious!!!! But anyways, he went to a buddies house and drank a "couple beers", my ***!!!! And they went driving on the ocean front. I guess he hit a pedestrian. He claimed she walked in front of his truck. She was not injured. He said he was going to pull off, but his buddy told him to pull over. When he pulled over, he seen she was ok,. I guess she was in a rush to get somewhere and didn't even have time to stop, she just kept walking and yelled to him, "I'm fine, but thanks for seeing if I was ok" A on looker called the police and he refused a breath test, but took the field test, the officer said he did well, but not up to her standards. When I went to bail him out, the bondsman said that the magistrate called him an "idiot" and claimed the he was acting like this is not big deal. Someone got his truck out of impound for him, and he is driving it now, and his license is suspended for 7 days! They said that because of the cirstances the judge would be tough on him, but normally for a 1st time offense the judge is lenient. What are the fines normally? Will his license be suspended for a year? Can he get a license for work purposes only?
